About AFLAI
An Africa-led initiative for foundational learning assessment.
The Africa Foundational Learning Assessment Initiative (AFLAI) is a new Africa-led initiative established to help governments strengthen their national assessment systems for foundational learning. Working in close partnership with the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), AFLAI connects Ministries of Education with trusted African expertise and practical technical assistance to improve every stage of the assessment cycle, from strategy and design to data analysis and the use of evidence for policy. Rather than promoting a single assessment tool, the initiative focuses on building long-term national capacity and fostering peer learning to ensure that assessment systems are government-owned, sustainable, and ultimately used to improve classroom teaching and learning.
